Laser Hair Removal
Lasers are a highly effective way to gently remove unwanted hair and laser hair removal is widely practiced in the medical community.
Traditional methods of removing unwanted hair include plucking, shaving, waxing and chemical depilatories. They are inconvenient, some are painful, some are messy and all are only temporary. For long-term hair removal electrolysis is popular and effective but is time consuming, typically painful and useful only in removing hair from small areas.
Laser hair removal is a more effective solution to remove unwanted hair from all parts of your body. There are many aesthetic lasers on the market today and after careful consideration we decided to purchase a state-of-the-art laser from a company called Lumenis who has been in the laser market for over 30 years. Our laser is called the Lumenis One and it has the ability to perform a wide variety of treatments on most skin types. The Lumenis One uses the Light Sheer diode laser system specially designed to remove unwanted hair faster, with less discomfort and more reliably than other methods. One of the most important aspects of this particular laser is the multiple built-in safety features. With the Lumenis One we will be able to remove your unwanted hair with little discomfort and no down time.
A laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted by the Light Sheer diode laser is well absorbed by the pigment located in hair follicles. During the procedure, the laser pulses for a fraction of a second, long enough to heat up the hair and significantly reduce the follicle's ability to re-grow. This process also treats numerous hair follicles simultaneously. Therefore, Light Sheer is appropriate for treating even the largest areas of the body both quickly and effectively. An important safety aspect of the procedure is the cooling of the skin. A special contact-cooling hand piece allows us to treat even the most sensitive skin. It protects and cools the upper layer of skin before, during and after each laser pulse while directing the laser energy to the hair root.
Skin Rejuvenation/IPL (Intense Pulse Light)
Photo rejuvenation involves using an energy-delivery device to improve skin texture, fine wrinkles, scars, and skin disorders such as sun spots and age spots.
Photo rejuvenation is a term that has been created to describe a noninvasive treatment that treats sun-damaged skin without disrupting the skin surface. The array of problems that can safely and effectively be treated are; rosacea, uneven skin pigmentation from sun damage, brown age spots, spider veins and enlarged or broken blood vessels that cause red blotches or streaks in the skin. As a "happy side effect" the IPL treatments also remove hair and lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The technology that allows us to enhance the appearance of your skin is called IPL or Intense Pulsed Light. IPL is not a laser, it is a broad spectrum of light energy in a range of wavelengths. The IPL device delivers high levels of light power in very short (milliseconds) bursts. This IPL energy is absorbed just underneath the skin and allows for gentle and gradual improvement of the underlying skin abnormality with minimal side effects and no down time.
